Anthony G. Wedgeworth's love of fantasy adventures has been present since he was a young child. Moving every 6 to 12 months, he continually encountered new places and cultures as his father contracted for various government projects.
Living a year in Madagascar, Africa provided a unique opportunity to see exotic animals and insects as well as tribal customs. Travels through Europe and across America stimulated his imagination and broadened his perspective.
Born in Iowa, he traveled the world in his early years until the family settled down in Bloomington, Minnesota. Growing up near the NFL football stadium, which is now the Mall of America, he absorbed the midwest culture.
Theater, dance, sports and music filled his youth as he embraced life to the fullest. Ever since he could talk, he was creating stories to perform for his friends and family. A showman from the start, he fed off the audience’s excitement. As he grew up, his stage talents transformed into corporate presentations and training seminars. But he never stopped writing short stories and making notes for future novels.
His challenge in childhood was suffering from severe dyslexia which caused him to struggle with most classes, nearly crippling his academic abilities. Nevertheless, he fought through his challenges year after year and went on to become an Industrial Engineer. One of his goals in life is to help others with Dyslexia and other learning disabilities.
By his mid-thirties he had worked his way up to Vice President of Engineering and Quality. His responsibility to develop critical documentation changed his view of writing from a chore to a passion. Writing for company business newsletters, he fueled his desire to write more.
Anthony also became an accomplished speaker and trainer, with strong and dynamic presentation skills. He has presented to thousands in corporate meetings and performed in the entertainment field on stage and on television.
Business plans and engineering specifications filled his day, but left him dry of his desire to write and tell wonderous stories of far away places.
By fall of 2005, he sat down and began his long term dream of becoming a writer. Winning 1st place in several short story competitions sparked additional excitement. With this he outlined over 20 stories from his notes over the past 30 years, selected a series of 6 of them and then wrote the first of the series.
Characters thick with life and settings strong enough to feel, his writing is rich and vibrant while still fast paced and easy to read.
Anthony has returned to Iowa and continues to work on the additional books of this series with ongoing drive and creativity. Nearly halfway through the second book, his characters continue to take on a life of their own, while Wedgeworth records their adventures.
